Salwa Kinsey will serve in the inaugural role of assistant principal at Pembroke Academy when it opens in the fall of 2018.
“I am looking forward to working closely with both staff and families to build an educational experience that will create a positive road to success for every student that comes our way,” said Kinsey, who has served as the dean of intervention at Warrendale Charter Academy for the past four years.
Kinsey holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree, both from the University of Michigan.
She also earned a Reading Specialist Endorsement from the University of Michigan and an Administrative Certification in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
For the past 12 years Kinsey has held teaching and leadership positions with National Heritage Academies serving as a teacher, reading specialist, and dean of special education and intervention. Prior to her work at Warrendale, she worked at Detroit Premier Academy.
“It is through consistent, intentional, and supportive partnerships between educator, student, and family that will help to lay the foundation of not only academic success for each child, but will also create a steady road of progress along the way.”
