In addition to earning “A” letter grades for student growth and performance, 92% of eighth-graders were proficient on the state test in English Language Arts in 2022-23. The year prior, 2021-22, 100% of eighth-graders were proficient in ELA. Even more notable is that Pembroke Academy outperformed 94% of schools in Michigan on the 2022-23 state test. It also was ranked the #1 school in Detroit for 2021-22, according to the Michigan School Index.

Pembroke Academy was named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
School and local leaders gathered at Pembroke Academy to celebrate the school’s 2024 National Blue Ribbon School honor, but the spotlight was turned on the school’s teachers, scholars, and their families. Overall state test proficiency has increased by 38 percentage points since the school's opening in 2018. Pembroke is the only school in the state to have achieved these gains over the past four years.

Pembroke Academy received the NHA Safety Award for the 2023-24 school year for achieving the highest ratings for safety on both the parent and staff surveys. We completed all required safety drills, and participated in the 2023-24 NHA Safety Week, a week set aside to educate staff and students on safety at school.
