“The experience was really great for my students,” says Riebe. “They were very excited and engaged with the lesson and asked very relevant and interesting questions during the Q & A portion. I spent time before the lesson reviewing weather and climate with my students so they would be prepared.”
Estime picks schools across southeast Michigan to work with and teach the students about weather and meteorology. When Riebe’s students had questions, they would go to the front of the class so that Estime and the student could see each other better.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about different weather patterns, what severe weather is, and even how weather predictions are determined and delivered on the local news,” said Salwa Kinsey, assistant principal. “Our Pembroke scholars were highly engaged, wearing their Pembroke lab coats and asking great questions throughout the lesson.”
Pembroke Academy also received a special shout-out on the Fox 2 News weather forecast by meteorologist Estime on Saturday morning, Jan. 15.
