Students at Matthews Charter Academy (MCA) broke a sweat while participating in their school’s annual Fun Run, which aims to raise money for various school initiatives. This year, MCA raised a total of $29,278.
The Boosterthon Team kicked off the Fun Run with a school-wide pep rally for students and teachers. Every day the Boosterthon Team motivated students with assemblies and different exciting activities to meet pledge goals and raise money for the school. During the Fun Run, scholars ran an average of 30-35 laps, and sixth- through eighth-grade students had the Fun Run Splash and Dash where they were soaked by water guns.
“Events like this are very important at MCA to boost student and staff morale, and to raise money to continue to grow and expand,” said Mary Funderburk, school ambassador at MCA.
Funds raised will go to support scholars with arts, special events, sports, and teacher appreciation and stipends.
