As the school year draws to a close, staff and families from Paragon Charter Academy enjoyed a bit of normalcy partaking in various year-end celebrations.
Aloha, often used as a greeting to say hello or as a farewell to say goodbye in Hawaiian, is the perfect analogy for Paragon’s Aloha Celebration! The event provided staff and school leaders an opportunity to say goodbye to their current students for the summer and also allowed new families for the upcoming school year to parade through and say hello.
The Aloha celebration was held in place of the school’s annual End of the Year Celebration, which is typically held in person. To make this year special, teachers and staff created cheerful posters to hold up as families drove through the parking lot with their windows down. Hula skirts, Hawaiian t-shirts and leis, along with brightly colored outfits created a fun atmosphere to send off the year.
“We feel that it is important for students, parents, and staff members to stay connected and have another chance to see each other in person, from a safe social distance, one more time on our campus this spring,” said Michelle White, admission representative at Paragon Charter Academy. “Since we are unable to host our usual End of the Year Celebration, we hope that a drive-thru celebration will offer closure for the Paragon community for this unusual school year.”
Teachers and school leaders lined Paragon’s sidewalk holding themed signs, waving as the families drove by. Sunglasses and smiles set the scene along with fun signs reading “Aloha!” or “Congratulations 2020 Welcome New Class!”
Parents and families also got into the spirit by decorating their cars for the occasion. One group went all out, with inflatable palm trees, seashells, and hula skirts covering the sides of one Jeep as it drove through the tropical bash!
Students ensured their voices were heard by creating posters of their own, directed at their teachers and other staff members. One student sign read “I will miss you!” and another sent well-wishes, saying simply “Have a great summer!”
Paragon also recently celebrated their youngest students, by holding a drive-thru celebration honoring kindergarten and Young5s students. During the event, scholars received a certificate, a kindergarten graduation yard sign to display at their home, and take-home celebratory bubbles.
Aloha for now, Paragon!
