Meet Your College & Career Counselor
Meet Canton Prep's College & Career Readiness Counselor, Mira Al-Mahayni. As the College and Career Readiness Counselor, Mira's goal is to partner with the teaching staff and Administrators to ensure that students have access to all educational opportunities and are successful in their academic, social emotional and career development. Mira's aim is to ease the transition from high school to the students' postsecondary options.

Scheduling
Course scheduling and registration occurs school-wide, twice each academic year.
Graduation Requirements
State of Michigan High School Requirements:
- 4 credits of math (must be enrolled all 4 years of high school)
- 4 credits of English
- 3 credits of science
- 3 credits of social studies
- 2 credits of art
- 2 credits of world language (must be the same language)
- 1 credit of PE/health
- 3 credits of additional courses (electives, online, extra science, history, etc.)
*1 credit = 1 year (2 semesters)
Canton Prep Requirements:
- Completion of at least two AP courses - 200 level (and above) college/dual enrollment classes count as part of the AP requirement
- 60 volunteer hours
- Acceptance to a four-year college or university
- Senior Portfolio completion:
- Job shadow requirement

College Visits
Juniors and seniors are given two excused absences each academic year to visit a college or university of their choice. To receive the excused absence, students must complete the proper forms with the school's front office two weeks before their scheduled visit.
Juniors and seniors who wish to attend college presentations here at Canton Prep should sign up in the College Counseling team’s office no later than the Friday before the scheduled presentation.
