Students at Winterfield Venture Academy recently met Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz when he visited the school. During his visit, the mayor toured the school and discussed his role in local government with Winterfield’s newly established student council.
The student council, comprised of sixth- through eighth-graders, was established this year to allow the students the opportunity to learn about the value of the government and how it functions.
“Our Scholars did a great job, and I am so proud of them,” said Nathan Preston, principal at Winterfield. “A huge shout out to Mr. Hermes and Mr. Kesselring for investing the time in our scholars to create the student council program and prepare them for this opportunity!”
Mayor Kapszukiewicz was elected mayor of Toledo, Ohio on Nov. 7, 2017 and took the oath of office on Jan. 2, 2018, becoming the 58th mayor of the city.
