Teacher Named Finalist for Excellence in Teaching Award

A kindergarten teacher at Wake Forest Charter Academy, Jessica Patton, was recognized as an Excellence in Teaching finalist from National Heritage Academies (NHA).

Every year, NHA celebrates the finest educators in its system of schools by highlighting outstanding teachers in four categories: Grades K-1, Grades 2-5, Grades 6-8, and co-curricular. There are 15 finalists in each category out of nearly 3,000 teachers. The finalists are determined by a number of factors including student test scores, annual performance evaluations, and parent satisfaction data.

Patton has worked for NHA for three years. She taught at an NHA sister school in North Carolina and then joined Wake Forest Charter Academy when it opened in 2014.

“Jessica does a wonderful job connecting with her students and keeping them engaged in the classroom,” said Principal Zack Perfitt. “We are so proud to see her recognized in the top two percent of teachers in NHA’s network of schools.”

Wake Forest Charter is a free public charter school serving students in kindergarten through seventh grade. It is one of eight schools in North Carolina managed by National Heritage Academies. NHA operates 81 schools in nine states serving more than 55,000 children.
