In April, a tornado touched down in the city of Greensboro, N.C., destroying many buildings and knocking out power to homes.
Gate City Charter Academy, in Greensboro, experienced a power outage for two days and had to close due to the loss of power.
Swofford rallied his staff to donate food and other needed supplies for Gate City.
“Our sister schools swung into action and I could not be more thankful,” said Natasha Robertson, principal at Gate City. “Summerfield and Greensboro Academy launched campaigns, collecting food to refill our pantry. Each school has reached out with a great desire to assist!”
Greensboro provided a pizza lunch for the Gate City staff and Summerfield sent over boxes of uniforms for their families.
