Summerfield Springs into Action to Help Sister-School

In April, a tornado touched down in the city of Greensboro, N.C., destroying many buildings and knocking out power to homes.

Within a couple of days, two nearby NHA sister-schools rallied to show their support and demonstrated compassion. “Although, their building wasn’t hurt, they were out of supplies in their school pantry from giving to the community,” said Rudy Swofford, principal of Summerfield Charter Academy. "Their shelves were bare." And, many more families were in need.

Swofford rallied his staff to donate food and other needed supplies for Gate City.

“Our sister schools swung into action and I could not be more thankful,” said Natasha Robertson, principal at Gate City. “Summerfield and Greensboro Academy launched campaigns, collecting food to refill our pantry. Each school has reached out with a great desire to assist!”
  “I am so thankful for these partnerships,” said Robertson. “This is compassion in action!”
