South Canton Scholars Named Top 20 Charter School in Michigan

South Canton Scholars was ranked as the 17th-best Charter Elementary School and 16th-best Charter Middle School in Michigan, according to Niche, an organization that specializes in data and rankings. South Canton’s Elementary and Middle Schools were also ranked seventh and sixth, respectively, among charter schools in the Detroit area and were given an A- grade.

The rankings are based on a rigorous analysis of key statistics and reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Read more about Niche’s process here.

NHA claimed eight of the top 10 spots for charter elementary schools in Michigan and took nine of the top 10 spots for charter middle schools, as well. Three of NHA’s high schools were ranked in the top 10 for charter high schools in Michigan.

NHA’s 2025 Best Charter Elementary Schools in Michigan: NHA’s 2025 Best Charter Middle Schools in Michigan: NHA’s 2025 Best Charter High Schools in Michigan: Fifteen NHA schools across the state rank in the top 25 on the Best Charter Elementary and Middle Schools in Michigan list. Seven rank in the top 10 on the Best Elementary and Middle Charter Schools in Grand Rapids list, and seven rank in the top 10 on the Best Elementary and Middle Charter Schools in Detroit list. Two of NHA’s high schools ranked in the top five on the Best Charter High Schools in Grand Rapids list, while two NHA schools made the top five Charter High Schools in Detroit list.
