Name: MaryBeth McGrail
Position (grade): Kindergarten teacher
Years at Quest: 9 years
Years in Education: 9 years
Favorite part of Quest: My favorite part of working at Quest is having a chance to work with such an amazing group of people – the staff and students. I am continuously learning from those around me and love watching the growth of my students every day.
Favorite lesson to teach: I absolutely love teaching during the entire month of March. Each week we do an author study and incorporate fun and interactive lessons to foster engagement and student success. My favorite author to study is Laura Numeroff. There are lots of tasty treats to use with her books, too.
Best part of being a teacher: Have you ever been in a kindergarten classroom? The number of smiles that these students provide me with is enough to fill someone’s heart. I love seeing the light bulbs go off when they have picked up on a concept and are able to apply it on their own. At the end of the year during kindergarten graduation, it’s so fun to see just how far they have come along the way – and so difficult to send them away!
What do you want your students to know: Sounding like a total cliché, I want my students to know they can do anything they put their mind to. With hard work, perseverance, determination, and heart they can succeed in anything. I also want them to know how much I love coming to school each day to teach them and see their faces light up.
