The idea came from a family whose children used to attend the school and are local business owners of the Sunflower Café and Kairos Ministries. The school received about 300 cards to complete.
“We knew this was an opportunity for our scholars to participate in encouraging those in our own state during a time of need, words have power, and we want to teach our scholars to be a light and beacon of hope for others,” Dean of Elementary Errin Schie said.
Students got to work writing messages on the cards, which will be picked up and delivered with care packages to residents in Western North Carolina.
“These scholars get to be "Spirit Sprinklers" by writing these notes of encouragement,” Schie said. “It has been a great way to incorporate writing and our Moral Focus virtues.”
The school also collected supplies to send to Western North Carolina and will donate all proceeds from their October Jeans Day to support relief efforts.
Great work supporting people in need, Queen’s Grant!
