Representatives from National Heritage Academies (NHA) and schools Summit Creek Academy and Phoenix Academy participated in the event and noted the importance of being there for people looking for an alternative to traditional public schools.
“School Choice has been a game changer for many families,” Phoenix Academy Admissions Representative Emily Vaughn said. “Parents appreciate the option to choose where their student gets to attend, otherwise they are assigned a school that may be lower performing solely based on what neighborhood they live in.”
Vaughn said safety was also a big subject on the minds of parents, as well as a need to send their children to a smaller, nurturing environment.
“I thought the N.C. Charter School Fair was a great event,” Vaughn said. “We met several families that were interested in schools in our area and we were able to give a lot of information out about Phoenix. There were also quite a few teachers and staff looking for career opportunities in charter schools.”
Joining Vaughn at the event were Summit Creek Academy Admissions Representative Ashlee Hooks, NHA Lead Admissions Manager Carol Longoria, and NHA Talent Acquisition Consultants Dominic Bongiorno and Ashley Watkins.
“It was such a fun event,” Longoria said. “We spoke to families that were looking for school options across the state and recruited potential teachers and staff for the N.C. schools. There was a photo booth, face painting, music, and refreshments.”
