To elevate student excitement in preparation for upcoming state tests, North Dayton School of Discovery recently hosted a State Test Pep Fest to kickoff state testing, while encouraging students to do their best.
The pep rally featured a video to launch the celebration, guest speakers, and student performances. The school was honored to have local youth activist and community leader, Marlon Shackelford, attend and speak to the middle school students.
“His passion and knowledge engaged our students as he dropped knowledge and shared why a state test is worthy of giving your best,” shared Victoria Vyborny, principal in residence at North Dayton School of Discovery.
Shackelford has achieved many accolades such as being named the Cultural Awareness Award winner and recipient for the annual Ohio MLK commemorative celebration. He is also the founder of Black Brothers Involvement and Black Sisters Involvement in Dayton, Ohio.
North Dayton’s BAD (Building and Developing) Little Sisters dance team did a special performance during the pep fest, led by Coach Traylor. Several North Dayton Eagles exhibited courage by reading and singing original, motivational pieces to their peers.
