Landmark Academy at Reunion Celebrates Outgoing Principal with Jenna Day

It was a bittersweet day at Landmark Academy at Reunion, celebrating the most familiar face at the school. Outgoing Principal Jenna Reeves is taking on the principal role at Capstone Academy, a new National Heritage Academies school, but had one last celebration with her Landmark students and staff.

The school planned Jenna Day as a sendoff for their beloved leader. Reeves’ office was decorated with photos, streamers, posters, signs, and gifts for the first surprise of the day. The love was felt at Driveline where someone held up a “Honk If You Love Mrs. Reeves” sign, where a symphony of car horns filled the parking lot.

Reeves was treated to coffee and breakfast in the morning before a day full of gratitude. Throughout the day, teachers would make a call to request Reeves to their classroom before they displayed how thankful they were for her. One class created and performed a song, while others tossed glitter and confetti in the air upon her arrival.

Everyone in the school community was committed to celebrating Reeves, with parents and scholars taking their role seriously. Families worked hard to make cards and gift flowers. New Principal Kelly Meyering said the day was exciting and that the school wanted to give back to Reeves.

“I think she is very encouraging,” Meyering said. “She makes people feel welcome and invited. She always has a smile on her face. We wanted to share that smile back with her. Everyone came together to celebrate her, and that goes hand-in-hand with the culture Jenna fostered and is still existing.”

That culture at Landmark has been nurtured through Reeves every step of the way. Beginning as a teacher, she spent 18 years with the school and was a founding staff member. Reeves served the school as a teacher, dean, and principal. With this environment geared toward excellence, it should come as no surprise Landmark has outperformed the local district since it opened.

The celebration was important to staff and students because Reeves is synonymous with Landmark Academy at Reunion, and they wanted to make sure she knew how appreciative they were.

“It was important to show the commitment and impact she’s made,” Meyering said. “We know it was a hard decision to leave, but her legacy will live on. She’s part of the Landmark family and always will be. We wanted her to feel special and know that she’s made all of us feel special. We want her to feel the same way.”

Thank you, Jenna! What a great celebration, Landmark!
