Fortis Academy recently joined forces with Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum for a Family STEM Science Night. This is the second year that scholars and their families gathered in the gymnasium to learn about science in a fun and hands-on environment.
“This event is a great opportunity for students and parents to learn fun activities they can do at home that connect to the science standards,” said Christina Maxwell, academic specialist at Fortis. “It’s also an opportunity for families to have a fun evening together.”
The teachers worked with the museum to create interactive learning stations that emphasize STEM curriculum. Each station was designed to peak the interests of students through self-directed, and fun science activities, all of which are linked to the Michigan Science Standards.
The activities ranged from bingo games to life-sized interactive stations that allowed the students to explore science in a new way.
Keep up the good work, Fortis scholars!
