A visit from students and professors in Careerline Tech Center’s dental program allowed students to evaluate their oral hygiene routines and properly take care of their teeth through a proper diet, opting for fruits, vegetables, and water instead of junk food.
“I brought up to my class, ‘If you think about it, you only get one set of teeth your entire life,’ and that put interest perspective for them,” aid Lizzy Pung, fourth grade teacher. “They kind of thought it was interesting just how important it is to take care of your teeth.”

The visitors from Careerline Tech Center set up in four stations for students to rotate through. One taught them how to properly floss, another detailed the difference between being a dental hygienist and a dentist, and those interested in working in dentistry learned about the years of school it takes to go into the field.
If nothing else, the visit helped students understand the importance of making regular visits to the dentist and making sure to take care of their teeth each day, all thanks to the dental professors and students who visited.
“It made it more relatable to them,” Pung said. “The kids thought it was really interesting.”
