Senator Visit Prompts Many Questions from Curious Students

New York State Senator Rob Ortt visited Buffalo United Charter School for a tour and spoke with students. A group of school ambassadors showed him around and were given an opportunity to ask questions about his job and if he thought the Buffalo Bills will have a chance to win the Super Bowl.

“Our Student Ambassadors utilized their leadership skills by providing the senator with a tour of our building, classroom observations, and a student-led press conference,” Principal Danelle Backe said. “Our scholars enjoyed learning more about the senator and the important role he has in the government.”

The list of questions was long, but Sen. Ortt was gracious with his time. The students asked him the following:

  • What made you want to be a Senator?
  • What does a Senator do each day?
  • What cause are you most passionate about right now?
  • In what ways do you want to make schools better?
  • Who is your favorite grade school teacher and why?
  • Who is someone that inspires you and why?
  • What do you like best about the Buffalo area?
  • What advice do you have for us as middle schoolers?
  • What is next for you in your career?
  • Do you think the Buffalo Bills are going to win the Super Bowl?
After the questions, Sen. Ortt posed for photos with students, faculty, Principal Backe, and School Board President Robert Lowery.
