Williams earned a Certificate of Excellence for his academic excellence along with his accomplishments in his many extracurricular activities. Criteria for students in Gary were based on their achievements in one of the following areas: STEM, art, academics, or athletics.
“Dashawn met every requirement,” said Executive Principal ReNae Robinson.
Williams received his honor at the Gary, Indiana, State of the City address.
Williams has excelled in the classroom, exuding his academic merit in science, technology, and math. As a student at Aspire since Kindergarten, he has been immersed in the school’s culture, one that has helped it outperform the local district for the last decade.
As for Williams’ involvement outside of the classroom, it’s hard to choose a starting point. He is a leader at Aspire, serving as the school’s Student Council President. That leadership extends to the National Junior Honor Society, where he is a proud member of the group. Williams is also a student ambassador.
Williams’ involvement also includes involvement in athletics, where he is the manager for the basketball team. He also helps keep his fellow scholars informed as a member of Aspire’s News Team, helping create the school news.
Dashawn earned the accolade for his work in the classroom and involvement outside of it. He is the Student Council president, a member of NJHS, the basketball team manager, and a student ambassador.
“He is a natural-born leader,” Robinson said. “We are so proud of his accomplishments and are looking forward to great things happening for Dashawn as he leaves Aspire and goes onto high school.”
Keep up the great work! We are proud of you, Dashawn!
