Alternative Teacher Certification
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WI DPI) issues a one-year, renewable License with Stipulations to cover individuals in a full-time teaching position while they work toward obtaining their Wisconsin Teaching License. Individuals must meet renewal requirements outlined by WI DPI each school year in order to renew their License with Stipulations.
Requirements for Licensure
Below are the requirements for obtaining a License with Stipulations:
A Master's, Education Specialist, or Doctoral degree is required for most Pupil Services and Administrator licenses. Refer to the specific licensing pathway for exact details.

- At minimum, a completed bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must be working toward obtaining a Wisconsin teaching license and must meet one of the following requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an approved Educator Preparation Program; OR
- Must have scheduled the required licensure test to obtain a Charter School License
