Westfield Academy Announces School Leaders

New Charter School Coming to Redford Charter Township Offers K-12 Experience

 
REDFORD, Mich., June 20, 2019 — National Heritage Academies (NHA) in collaboration with its sister company, PrepNet, is set to open Westfield Academy in September 2019. The newest school in each organization’s portfolio are announcing its founding principals: Ira Kleiman, who will lead Westfield Charter Academy, a K-6 school managed by NHA; and Aquan Grant, who will lead Westfield Preparatory High School, a 7-12 campus operated by PrepNet.
 
Kleiman brings more than 20 years of educational experience to his role, having previously spent time in the classroom as a science teacher, in addition to his leadership roles as a dean and principal. Most recently, Kleiman led a sister NHA school, Fortis Academy, for the past seven years.
 
It’s the positive experiences he had as a student, himself, that really drive him to create a learning environment where students thrive.
 
“Growing up, I had wonderful teachers who played a significant role in who I am today,” said Kleiman. “That experience motivates me to help my students grow into successful individuals, and being a principal allows me to ensure our scholars receive a positive, challenging, and caring learning environment where they can flourish and reach their potential.”
 
It’s making a difference that also drives Grant, who brings 15 years of experience as an educator to her role, the last eight years of which she spent as principal at Arbor Preparatory High School, operated by PrepNet Schools.
 
However, Grant didn’t always plan on going into education and becoming a principal. She realized her desire to be a principal when she worked part-time in a middle school, and knew the landscape of education had to change, and she wanted to be part of that change.
 
“This K-12 experience provides a seamless transition for students and builds a stronger environment for our parents, students, and staff as we invest in their long-term educational goals,” said Grant. “It becomes a continuous journey that everyone involved is committed to seeing through.”
 
Westfield Charter Academy will open to kindergarten- through sixth-grade students. Westfield Prep will open to seventh- through ninth-grade students, adding one grade level each year following the opening date.
