And as adults, regularly availing ourselves to materials and healthy conversations can help us continue our journey toward becoming anti-racist. 1. PBS.org recently released a half-hour special featuring clips from their most popular characters and short interviews with real-life families discussing race and a variety of racial justice-related topics. Below the video are loads of articles, discussion guides, and recommended kids’ books to help you delve deeper.
  2. Check out this article from Parents Magazine for a brief breakdown of how to appropriately discuss race at each age and stage.
  3. In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, University of Michigan Health released this helpful article entitled “Raising Race-Conscious Children: How to Talk to Kids About Race and Racism.”
  4. Do you feel like you need guidance on how to frame these discussions, or worry you won’t have answers to the questions your child asks? This article by KidsHealth from Nemours is a good place to start.
  5. The best thing you can do for your child is become a student yourself. As we embrace efforts to confront our own biases and model anti-racist behavior, our children will learn, too. This article simplifies how adults can begin this journey.
